Miss. St. hires Diaz, Wilson for defense (AP)Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has hired Manny Diaz and Chris Wilson to run his defense, which struggled to stop just about anybody last season. The Bulldogs finished 11th out of 12 teams in the SEC in total defense, allowing 366 yards per game, and were in the bottom half of the league in rush defense, pass defense and scoring defense.

Thousands of Alabama fans came out to celebrate the Crimson Tide’s national championship with fireworks and cheers on a chilly, damp Saturday, then headed home with a promise from coach Nick Saban. Speaking from a stage erected at midfield of Bryant-Denny Stadium with the team behind him, Saban told a crowd estimated at 38,000 that he’s not done winning at Alabama.
