Wells resigns as Savannah St. coach (AP)Savannah State football coach Robby Wells has resigned, citing personal reasons. Wells says in a statement issued Thursday night that he has to think about his family and health before anything else and wished his players well. The 42-year-old coach went 7-15 in his two years at the Football Championship Series program, including a 2-8 effort last season.

Tide’s Cody, Arenas aim to excite scouts (AP)Terrence Cody is a mountainous nose tackle who weighs nearly twice as much as cornerback Javier Arenas. Despite their vastly different statures, the two former Alabama All-Americans both are trying to prove they size up as strong NFL prospects during preparations for Saturday’s Senior Bowl. The 6-foot-5 Cody weighed in at a jiggly 370 pounds before a crowd of NFL scouts, coaches and executives.
